ABOUT ABOUT

The Philadelphia Department of Commerce presents Manufacturing Reimagined, a series of tours of Philadelphia-based manufacturing facilities. Experience firsthand the capabilities of local companies who have reengineered themselves and see what products are currently produced. Challenge your own creative capacity to Re-Imagine new futures for existing equipment.

On November 5th and 7th, Manufacturing Reimagined visits Huntingdon Yarn Mill a domestic textile supplier that has developed yarns for the apparel, home furnishing, and craft industries in Philadelphia since 1940. The mill, located in northeast Philadelphia, houses three yarn-making processes under one roof: Skein Dyeing, Novelty Yarn Twisting, and Metallic Yarn Combining.

In addition to their wholesale production capacity, Huntingdon Yarn Mill began Made in America Yarns focused on the Hand Knitting/artisan and Maker’s Movement. The goal is the same - to provide high quality yarns with excellent customer service. As a family business, Huntingdon Yarn Mill stays true to its core values with suppliers and customers by purchasing raw materials from domestic manufacturers whenever possible. From designing the yarn to dyeing it, all of their yarns are proudly made in the United States.
